Via was born in Vancouver, British Columbia in 2342. As the only child of two accomplished scientists, she grew up in a household where learning and curiosity were encouraged from an early age. Her father specialized in environmental systems research while her mother devoted her career to astrophysics and stellar phenomena. Unlike many children raised in highly academic households, Via was never pressured to follow a specific path. Instead, her parents encouraged her to explore whatever subjects captured her imagination. As a result, she developed an unusually broad range of interests. By adolescence she had already demonstrated remarkable academic abilities. Teachers frequently praised her ability to identify connections between seemingly unrelated disciplines and apply knowledge creatively to solve complex problems. Her childhood was marked by frequent educational travel across Earth and several nearby Federation worlds. These experiences instilled in her a lifelong passion for exploration and discovery, moreso after she was introduced to Starfleet during one such educational trip to Vulcan.
