| Physical Description | Admiral Alexandra Harrington carries herself with the quiet confidence of someone who has spent decades earning every promotion rather than expecting them. She stands just above average height with a slender athletic build. Her shoulder length auburn hair is usually worn loose with gentle curls, though when duty demands she gathers it neatly behind her head. A pair of striking green eyes dominate her features. Alexandra's expression naturally settles somewhere between thoughtful contemplation and faint amusement, giving her an approachable appearance uncommon among senior admirals. |

Personality & Traits
| General Overview | Harrington represents what Starfleet hoped its senior leadership would become after the Dominion War. Unlike many admirals who eventually become disconnected from life aboard a starship, Harrington actively works to remain involved with the captains under her command. She knows every commanding officer personally, reads nearly every mission report herself, and regularly conducts informal conversations with junior officers whenever they pass through Starbase 621. She firmly believes exploration, not military strength, is Starfleet's primary purpose, however she also understands the galaxy rarely permits that ideal to exist without preparation. Rather than micromanaging captains, she grants considerable autonomy. Once she gives an order, she expects officers to use their judgment in carrying it out rather than requesting permission for every decision. Because of that philosophy, she has earned tremendous loyalty among those serving beneath her command. Although patient, Alexandra has little tolerance for officers who place political ambitions ahead of their responsibilities. | |

History
| Personal History | Alexandra Harrington was born in Vancouver in 2333 into a family already deeply rooted within Starfleet. Her father served as captain of an Excelsior class explorer, while her mother worked as one of the Federation's senior diplomatic envoys. Her childhood alternated between Earth and various Federation colonies, giving her an unusually broad perspective on life beyond humanity's core worlds. Rather than seeing the Federation as a collection of member planets, she viewed it as an ongoing experiment requiring constant care and understanding. She entered Starfleet Academy in 2351. Unlike many cadets seeking tactical prestige, Alexandra pursued command through exploration, diplomacy, and astrophysics. She graduated with distinction in 2355. Her first assignment was aboard the Ambassador class USS Resolute as a science officer before transferring into bridge operations. Over nearly a decade she steadily advanced through operations, science, and command divisions, becoming known as an officer capable of balancing scientific curiosity with practical decision making. Her commanding officers consistently praised her ability to resolve tense situations without firing a shot. In 2368 Harrington received command of the Nebula class USS Magellan. Over the next seven years she led dozens of exploratory missions into previously uncharted regions beyond Federation borders. The Magellan established first contact with fourteen civilizations, charted hundreds of stellar phenomena, and became known throughout Starfleet as one of its premier exploratory vessels. When the Dominion War erupted, exploration ended overnight. The Magellan became a fleet command vessel supporting operations across several sectors. Although Alexandra commanded numerous successful engagements, she never considered herself a wartime captain. During the conflict she lost her husband, Commander Ethan Harrington, whose Akira class ship was destroyed during the Second Battle of Chin'toka. She rarely speaks of the event. Those close to her say it fundamentally changed how she views the cost of command. Following the Dominion War, Harrington became one of Starfleet's strongest advocates for returning to peaceful exploration. She spent years organizing relief efforts, reopening exploratory routes, and restoring relationships damaged during wartime. Her balanced leadership earned promotion first to flag officer rank. In 2381 Starfleet established Fourth Exploratory Command, headquartered at Starbase 621, responsible for deep space exploration along the frontier. Recognizing Harrington's experience balancing exploration with frontier security, Starfleet appointed her commanding admiral. |
